Located just outside Cape Town in the picturesque Durbanville wine valley, Maastricht is a family-owned wine estate with 35 years of grape-growing excellence. The Louw family’s vineyards benefit from the cool ocean breezes, just 10 km away, which enhance the quality of our boutique wines. With stunning views of Cape Town and the Atlantic seaboard, Maastricht offers a truly unique wine experience in the heart of the Cape Winelands.
De Grendel, one of Cape Town's oldest farms, spans 330 hectares on the fynbos-covered slopes of Tygerberg Hill. Known for its exquisite wines, the estate reflects the Graaff family's deep connection to the land and their scientific approach to winemaking. With breathtaking views of Table Mountain, stretching from Table Bay to Cape Point, De Grendel is a true gem in the Cape winelands. Originally purchased by Sir David De Villiers Graaff in 1890 for his prized Arab horses, the farm's rich history dates back to 1720.
Diemersdal lies on the cool slopes of the Durbanville wine region, one of Cape’s oldest wine regions with a record for excellence in wines, the result of the region’s unique terroir. Ancient soils of decomposed granite with a moisture-retaining clay component are an ideal base for a number of grape varieties. Climatically, Diemersdal’s proximity to the cold Atlantic Ocean to the west ensures a temperate climate with mild summers and cold, wet winters where an average rainfall of 700mm per annum is experienced. During the summer months a persistent cool breeze from the south-east ensures Diemersdal’s vines escape the heat of summer with even-ripening of healthy fruit one of the farm’s features. Some 200ha of Diemersdal are planted to a variety of cultivars, with Sauvignon Blanc being the dominant variety.
NITIDA WINES
Nestled in the heart of the Durbanville Wine Valley, our family-owned wine cellar, Nitida, crafts boutique wines that proudly bear the Wine of Origin Cape Town status. For us, "handmade" goes beyond just a process—it's a commitment to perfecting the small details and respecting each batch from vine to bottle. Our belief is simple: great wines come from thoughtful vineyard care.
Since the Veller family planted our first vines in 1992, we've been passionate about creating exceptional wines. With a history of awards, including a Gold Medal for our Sauvignon Blanc just three years after planting, our commitment remains steadfast. Our approach of minimal intervention allows our wines to truly express the unique micro-climate of Durbanville
